Technological revolution

With the constant changing technological environment of our society it is enormously important to keep up with the times. Anyone one has the means to purchase a video camera and a computer should make the effort to understand and learn to make personal videos. Being a videographer nowadays should be just as common as people taking pictures twenty years ago. People are more receptive to images and sounds than anything else. People respond to one another through video post on sites like YouTube, and evolution supports the fact that technological spikes cause change.

Having basic movie making skills can prove to be very beneficial for many reasons. One example that everyone can appreciate is family documentation. Having family home movies put on a DVD with chapters in a semiprofessional fashion that can be easily duplicated will serve the whole family. Accessibility is something that people have on their side, even one of the most basic computers that can be bought have a form of video/media software such as windows moviemaker. The technology is there; people just have to take the step.

The Evolution of MTV

In October of 2006 Jet Magazine had an article titled “Why it took MTV so long to play black music videos.” In the early days of MTV the music videos had to fit a certain criteria, and most tended to be pop or rock artist. This became very evident in the black community of musical artist at the time. One artist who made it a personal crusade was Rick James, and said that MTV was racist and not giving black artist the respect they deserve and not letting them take advantage of this new form of media that would boost sales. MTV again claimed that certain videos created by black artist didn’t fit the criteria and that they were not excluding black videos intentionally. Once Michael Jackson came out with his three amazing music videos Billie Jean, Beat it, and Thriller it changed MTV for black artist and open the doors for new ventures. MTV came out with the hit segment Yo! MTV Raps and was an enormous success for black artist and a major milestone for MTV for the next generation.
